I have brought my young 5 year old son there 3 times now and have to say although he enjoys and plays with everything they have to offer as much as he can, we won’t and have never been in a hurry to go back. He will have just as much fun in other places & parks. The staff are indeed friendly when you enter the building, I feel, mainly as they charge you a fortune to get in.you would have to smile. I really feel that the place itself can’t justify the cover charge, I only have one child and I find paying for both him and myself €17:00 euros admission and then charged premium prices for teas, coffees, drinks & any food they have – it’s just not worth it. If you are bringing a few children then you better have the bucks to match.

I would think that if they charged less they would infact gain bigger business. More people would go back and more regularly….I would ! They could then put a few bob into bringing the place up a touch.. it is a bit worse for ware now.

But all in all it is a very nice place to visit (The odd time) and the activities are plentiful but the charge is and always has been way to expensive

I had to post this story as I just love the simplicity and innocence of it. It pretty much summarises the plot of most movies I've seen!

Myself and my friend brought our kids - a 3 yr old girl and a 4 yr old boy. They enjoyed it, we did too but I feel that charging us 8.50 each was a bit steep. Didn't find any staff in any of the areas until it was near the end of the 2hour stint where there was one girl trying to coax the kids into cleaning up the supermarket area by promising them jellies on the way out.. Overall great day was had but because of the cost we wouldn't hurry back.

Hi, Just read your blogs and had to mention that I also thought it was a wonderful place. There really is nowhere like it in the country. One point though would be regarding the name "Dublin Children's Museum" It actually isnt misleading from the stand point of childrens Museums of the world, as its not a play centre more a learning centre. My husband is from the states where there are many childrens museums like Imaginosity. They are wonderful places, my favourite being The Boston childrens museum. In these too though you will find some elements broken etc etc, but hey.. thats the nature of children, they will explore and push until something snaps. This being the very reason why these places are so special and I'm delighted to have one here in Ireland.

I'm an annual member of Imaginosity and I have to say, I think they do a pretty good job of keeping the place clean, replacing and fixing - considering they are a charity, with no government funding! Always found the staff friendly and helpful.

Thanks for the comment Sinead. Yeah, we felt the concept was really really great but it is let down from lack of maintenance and staff interaction. Our kids really enjoyed it though and we'd probably go back for their sakes at least.
